13th Apr 10
A new exhibition by Karen Purple opens next week (From Monday 19th) Karen’s daily walks in the countryside have given her a unique approach to painting and drawing, by using dyes and pigments she makes herself from objects, soil and plants foraged from the undergrowth. The result is an intriguing mix of boxes, tiny sculptural drawings and large scale paintings.
Karen has been working with the Oxford University’s Harcourt Arboretum for the last year, and she will be giving an Insight Tour on 5th May at 2pm. There will also be an opportunity to see some further work in progress and her research work, on display in The Lodge.
