Spring 2022 Season On Sale Now
The 2022 season combines exceptional contemporary theatre, music and dance, innovative and exciting family shows, inspiring talks and bold, thrilling visual art.
Ria Parry, Co-Director of The North Wall, says:
‘We are delighted to share this new season with you as we venture in to 2022. We have loved welcoming audiences back into the building for shows, exhibitions and workshops, and we’re looking forward to spending more time with our local community in the forthcoming months.’
Award-winning Popelei presents PUSH, a high-octane, darkly comic story of a woman staring down the barrel of motherhood. The Actors Touring Company returns with the European premiere of RICE by Michele Lee, a thought-provoking, funny and surprisingly touching take on race, class, office politics, family and female friendship. Kandinsky makes theatre quite unlike other companies; The Winston Machine is both a profound family saga and an epic, unmissable state-of-the-nation show.
Caroline Horton‘s All Of Me is an intimate and absurd exploration of death and depression. Stav Meishar‘s The Escape Act is an extraordinary circus-theatre show based on the incredible life of Irene Danner, a Jewish acrobat who survived the Holocaust hiding in the German Althoff Circus. And the Alchymy new work festival and National Theatre Connections youth theatre festival both celebrate the most exciting theatre-makers of tomorrow.
Rochdale’s ‘excellent’ (Lyn Gardner, Stagedoor) M6 Theatre brings a characteristically joyous and energetic performance to the stage (Pebble On The Beach); The Hug by Long Nose Puppets is a heart-warming and hilarious tale of a hedgehog and a tortoise in search of a restorative hug; and Oxford-favourite Nick Cope returns with his toe-tapping Family Show.
As part of Dancin’ Oxford 2022, Wriggle Dance Theatre presents Squidge, a truly magical and funny interactive dance show for 3-8 year olds, and Body Politic‘s powerful and gripping hip-hop dance show THEM.
There are brilliant evenings of comedy from musical comedy duo (and squabbling sisters) Flo & Joan, with a preview of their brand-new show Sweet Release; the well-loved, award-winning Jericho Comedy club; the satirist and expert entertainer Daliso Chaponda; and stand-up masters Jimeoin and Mark Watson.
The live music programme includes a haunting and compelling tribute to the victims of the Scottish Witch Trials by Rachel Newton & Lauren MacColl; Platform 4‘s remarkable Triffids! gig-theatre; the world-renowned chanteuse Camille O’Sullivan with an exploration of the dark and light of Nick Cave’s music; and hugely original folk from Hannah James & Toby Kuhn, Sam Sweeney and band, the Folkatron Sessions and the Will Pound Band.
And the wonderful gallery programme includes a special collaboration with writer and performer Dr Rommi Smith and the TopFoto image archive entitled Changing The Story: Photographs Of British Life In Black And White (1917–1962).
