Do you want a career in the arts, to gain leadership skills, organise and attend events, or to have a say in shaping the future of The North Wall?
Open to young people aged between 14 – 19, we are looking to form a new Youth Board at The North Wall, who will meet monthly, and play a significant role in shaping the direction and vision of The North Wall.
The main areas of focus are likely to be:
- Voice – tell us what you think of our programme, policies, and ideas.
- Participation – take part in workshops, watch shows and visit exhibitions at and for The North Wall.
- Leadership – advise, consult and co-produce on events at The North Wall.
The group will work together to devise activity that aligns with their interests. This may involve visiting exhibitions, watching performances and attending events outside of the monthly Tuesday sessions.
The North Wall celebrates diversity and fosters inclusion, and is committed to equality of opportunity for everyone in our community, regardless of class, age, disability, gender, race, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation. We actively encourage applications from individuals who are under-represented in the cultural sector.
For ages 14-19
The North Wall Youth Board will meet in person once a month, mostly on the last Tuesday of the month from 4.45-6pm.
Spaces are free (but limited)

FAQs
What is the time commitment?
We will meet at The North Wall, once a month, from 4.45 – 6pm, – on the last Tuesday of the month. There is also a training session on the evening of 12 March. We will encourage meeting up outside of these workshops to watch shows but this is optional, dependent on your availability. There will be a break during May and October half terms, and during August. See the full schedule: The North Wall Youth Board 2024 –2025 Dates
How much does it cost?
It’s free to take part!
What will it involve?
This is a brand new scheme so it will depend on our youth board members and what they decide is important to them. Although we expect alongside the monthly sessions the group may visit exhibitions, watch performances and attend workshops and events.
Can I still join if I’m not that interested in theatre or performing?
That’s fine! We are interested to hear from young people who can bring a variety of interests. You may be interested in visual arts, or community activity, or programming. You may want to develop leadership skills, have ideas to share on social media or assist in running workshops.
What if I can’t get to The North Wall?
If you are in the Oxfordshire area but travel is a problem we can assist with a travel bursary.
What if I can’t attend all the monthly sessions?
This is a volunteering program, so the more you can attend the more you can get out of it. We understand that things pop up in life. If you are worried about commitment issues, please feel free to chat to us!
Can I take part alongside DofE?
Yes! Being a board member is a brilliant way of volunteering your time, gaining skills and having a lasting impact at The North Wall.
