We’re thrilled to welcome a new creative associate company to The North Wall family.
GOYA makes queer music theatre. The company aims to create exciting work that is funny and accessible, whilst also complicating narratives of gender and sexual non-conformity. They are Sam Woof (Artistic Director), Mrinmoyee Roy (Co-Producer), and Lowri Spear (Co-Producer).
GOYA met at university in 2019. The company has produced work at venues such as the Oxford Playhouse, The Other Palace and the King’s Head Theatre. GOYA is the winner of the Musical Theatre Review’s ‘Special’ Award 2022. Artistic Director Sam Woof was one of the 2023 Fringe Five as chosen by The Stage.
The company most recently developed two new shows at the venue ahead of the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023: Actually, Love, a musical rollercoaster charting the highs and lows of identity politics, romantic clichés and open-mic nights; and Four Felons and a Funeral, which was named as one of The Stage’s Critics Picks of the Festival.
