The Easter project, Catalyst (formerly TheatreCraft), is central to our commitment to new writing, and brings two vital roles centre stage, offering talented young writers and directors two weeks of immersive creativity and the chance to focus solely on honing their craft. To those selected, we offer the chance to work with a team of professional actors, and highly experienced writing and directing mentors in a safe and supportive space, to develop and showcase new scripts. Free accommodation and meals are also provided.
Catalyst 2018 took place from Monday 26 March – Friday 6 April 2018 and six writers and three directors took part. Writers were mentored by Tom Brennan and Rebecca Manley and directors by Ria Parry and John Hoggarth.
Extracts from the following plays were performed on Friday 6 April:
Breathe by Pasha Tong
The Counties by Patrick Russell
Intravenous by Nancy Netherwood
Walk Swiftly and With Purpose by Siofra Dromgoole
Wood by Adam Foster
