The summer residency in 2015 took place from Monday 20 July – Saturday 8 August. This year, an ensemble of young actors, musicians, designers and technicians worked with multi-award-winning Theatre Ad Infinitum, an international ensemble committed to developing new and original theatre for multi-cultural audiences – to create a new piece of theatre based on a Norwegian classic text.
The Project
Participants worked alongside a team of professionals led by Nir Paldi, joint Artistic Director of Theatre Ad Infinitum to create of a new piece of theatre, inspired by the Norwegian novel “The Wreath”, the first part of the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy by Sigfrid Undset, an epic tale of a woman trying to swim against the tide, set in the dark and frozen landscape of 14th century Norway.
Working with Lecoq techniques of ensemble storytelling, the work was highly physical, integrally musical, intensive, challenging and exciting, demanding high energy levels and absolute commitment. The project culminated in a public sharing at the end of the residency.
