Held from Tuesday 29 March – Friday 8 April 2016, the second TheatreCraft Easter project brought together six emerging writers aged 18-25, three directors and and ensemble of actors in a residency that puts playwriting centre stage.
Six young playwrights and three emerging directors aged 18-25 worked together for nearly two weeks to explore how to improve their craft. Mentored by directors John Hoggarth, (Iron Shoes, former Director of the National Youth Theatre) and Ellen McDougall, and professional writers Barney Norris, Chris O’Connell and Bea Roberts, the group had the invaluable opportunity to try out ideas with a ensemble of eight actors. The emphasis of ArtsLab is to provide a safe space for emerging artists to experiment with new ideas.
Extracts from the following plays were performed on Friday 8 April:
Flight Neasa O’Callaghan
Lockout Jules Orcullo
This Much I Know Hannah Greenstreet
Here I was Born, There I Died Connor Patrick Carroll
The Games We Played Michelle Sewell
ROOST Rosie Kellett
