YouthLab exists to inspire and empower young people aged 12-17 who are passionate about the arts and to encourage self-expression, working collectively and developing a craft.
We commission a range of artists to deliver projects for our YouthLab programme. We offer workshops, masterclasses and performance opportunities in dance, theatre, music and visual arts, running during the school holidays.
At the heart of each workshop or course is a sense of fun, playfulness and curiosity. This approach gives opportunity for participants to experience a wide range of styles, techniques and ways of working which help to shape their own style of creating.
Full bursary places are available on all YouthLab projects. For more information, contact our Participation Manager, Abie Walton, on waltona@thenorthwall.com.
In 2022-2023…
- We ran 34 workshops (17 of which were free)
- We have presented one public performance with our YouthLab Weekly Drama
- We worked with 427 young people
- We offered 32 bursary places
YouthLab: Theatre Club
Open to anyone aged 13 – 18 who identifies as a young carer.
It is important for young carers to have the opportunity to relax, take a break from their caring role, meet other young carers and have fun. The Theatre Club meet monthly and have dinner together before watching a show at The North Wall. There is no pressure to attend every month and it is all completely free. If transport is a problem, we can help.
