Welcome to The North Wall’s Spring Season
This Spring we’re presenting an eclectic programme of live performance and visual arts exhibitions. Our theatre programme features exciting new writing by contemporary playwrights – Jenna Fincken’s Ruckus is a compelling one-woman thriller exploring the impact of coercive control on one woman’s relationship, and Sonali Bhattacharyya’s story of sisterhood, freedom of speech and creative expression, Liberation Squares, is not to be missed.
We’re thrilled to be taking part in Dancin’ Oxford’s Spring Festival in March – join us for Story of One, Story of Many, featuring high-energy choreography by Amina Khayyam Dance Company; and James Wilton Dance’s folk-inspired contemporary dance work, Lore.
Ephemeral Ensemble’s Rewind was one of our favourite shows from last year’s Fringe festival – told by an international ensemble, the show uses physical theatre, puppetry and electrifying live music to uncover the true story of life and death of those who dared to resist against authoritarianism. Award-winning theatre company ThickSkin have teamed up with the writing talents of Billie Collins (Too Much World At Once) to produce Peak Stuff, a visually-thrilling and inventive show that takes a deep-dive into consumer culture.
In our family programme, Little Angel Theatre make a welcome return after last year’s phenomenal I Want My Hat Back Trilogy – Dogs Don’t Do Ballet is a dazzling comedy about an extraordinary dog, perfect for the Easter holidays. There’s plenty of musical performances to keep tiny toes tapping too, with concerts by Nick Cope and Tots Tunes Family Band. Our YouthLab participation programme for ages 7-17 is flourishing, with creative holiday workshops in everything from clowning to kathak, as well as our weekly after-school drama sessions at Cutteslowe Community Centre. In the gallery, we’re welcoming back AT The Bus and hosting new solo shows by artists Addy Gardner and Amaia Salazar. Plus there’s more brilliant stand-up comedy from Jericho Comedy and shows from Mark Watson, Daliso Chaponda and Sindhu Vee (to name a few!)
Folk fans will be pleased to hear that Eliza Carthy will be returning, as well as Rowan Rheingans (this time with the multi-instrumental trio Lady Maisery), and we are thrilled to welcome “Queen of the Fringe” herself, the astonishing Camille O’Sullivan, for an intimate evening of dark and light songs, including David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, and Rufus Wainwright.
In Autumn 2023, we introduced a new Pay What You Choose ticket pricing structure for selected events – customers can pay the Standard rate, or choose to Pay More or Pay Less, based on what’s affordable for them. Find out more here.
