The Summer Residency 2012 ran from 31 July – 19 August. For the first time, The North Wall had two projects running alongside each other simultaneously: Dead On Her Feet, our first foray into producing, and Crash, in which twelve actors and two young writers worked alongside three established theatre practitioners (Royal Court young writer Tom Wainwright, North Wall Artistic Director Lucy Maycock and Christoper Sivertsen, Artistic Director of Awake Project) to produce a response to Dead On Her Feet.
The resulting three short plays, Reclaim by Sam Farley, Fast Track by Catriona Kerridge and Together by Tom Wainwright, explored the economic crisis of 2008 and the fall-out currently experienced by young people in the UK.
The plays were performed together as Crash. Rehearsed readings were performed at the North Wall on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 August, and staged scenes from Tom Wainwright’s Together were performed as a curtain raiser before the opening night of Dead On Her Feet on Saturday 8 September.
A scratch performance took place at the Arcola Theatre in London on Saturday 6th October.
“It was amazing that we were living and working alongside the actors of “Dead On Her Feet”, and I think every year the outreach project would benefit greatly from working with another professional cast of young actors, training together and exchanging ideas. I know they really inspired me and pushed me in the right direction.” Lucy Francis-Moulden, Actor
“I wasn’t expecting a rehearsed reading of my work, which was great. And to gain words of wisdom from Ron, Lucy and Tom was invaluable.” Catriona Kerridge, Writer
