Call and Response brings together two Oxford based arts organisations dedicated to fostering connection, skill-sharing, and professional development. Artists from the Warehouse Art School and art-sauce present an exhibition in two parts to exchange ideas and creative practice.
Part one (2 – 12 July) presents the culmination of a year of enquiry, experimentation and personal growth by eight artists from the Warehouse Art School Continuing Creative Practice course.
Part two (17 July – 9 August) furthers the conversation with artists from art-sauce, who have engaged in a collaborative process to draw direct inspiration from each other to encompass the theme of Call and Response.
The exhibition takes its name from the principle of dialogue—between artists and their peers, between organizations that share a commitment to artistic growth, and between the work and its audience. Just as call and response is a form of exchange, this exhibition invites the public into a wider conversation: to engage and bring their own perspectives into the creative process.
Drawing inspiration from supportive communities of practice, Call and Response invites dialogue—between individuals, disciplines, and experiences—to enrich and sustain creative development.
Please note: The gallery will be closed from 13 – 16 July while we change over from Part One to Part Two.
