Table

Written by Tanya Ronder

“Go on then, Table, speak. You tell us, you were there, you’ve always been there.”

For the Best family, there’s been one constant observer of family life – their lovingly crafted and well-worn dining table. From rural Lichfield in 1896 to urban North London in 2013 – via the African Continent and a commune in Herefordshire: six generations, twenty-three characters and one very special piece of furniture. As richly textured as wood and bridging the generations, Table is an epic tale of belonging, identity and the things we pass on.

First produced by the National Theatre, this production will be performed by a company of nineteen actors from The Oxford School of Drama’s One Year Course and is a fantastic opportunity to witness the next generation of acting talent.

The Oxford School of Drama is one of the UK’s leading Drama Schools, with alumni including the multi-award-winning Claire Foy (The Crown) and Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer), Olivier Award nominee Tanya Reynolds (A Mirror, The Almeida Theatre) and Olivier Award winner Maimuna Memon (Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Donmar Warehouse)
